Moonrise over Maumee Bay

I was just coming back from our property up by your house and mentioned that I'd like to be sitting on your back porch watching the moon! How ironic that I come home and open your blog to find this awesome photo! :)

I guess the old saying about "Great minds..."

Actually, I wasn't sure this would turn out - it was much better in person. This photo was taken without a flash and with NO adjustments to the camera/lens. I didn't even put it on "night." So you can tell how bright the moon was.

I only regret that I wasn't home early enough to actually see it begin to rise - this time of year it's often yellow/orange...maybe I'll try tonight!

An earlier shot might have shown a reflection on the water making for a more striking picture, if it had been dark enough ;-)

And, I believe the moon would have also appeared larger at the lower angle, in addition to the different hue...

But then, I don't have a lake view to test this :-(

(Extreme jealousy talking here)

Well, hooda, I took pics last night of the actual moonrise and I need a different camera to capture the best of what I saw. It was still a bit light and the moon was certainly larger and more yellow...but there wasn't a defined reflection on the water like there is in this one.

Yes, I'm totally spoiled as I've lived my life on the bay with these types of views...
