A Quote from our Founders

From the Patriot Post - a Founder's Quote:

"Nothing so strongly impels a man to regard the interest of his constituents, as the certainty of returning to the general mass of the people, from whence he was taken, where he must participate in their burdens."

-- George Mason (speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention,17 June 1788)

Great quote.

But when you spend your career in Washington as a fulltime/lifetime politician and exempt yourself from all of the laws that you pass, you begin to think of yourself as special, above and separate from those pesky burdens...

Pessimism sure, but with a ring of truth to it. Just enough to make you grit your teeth.

As a public we tend to forget that the politicians are, first and foremost, people.

Just like you and me.

With all those imperfections, quirks, personal issues, and 'bad days'. THEN they are politicians.

That good ol' human factor can cause all of us to cash a reality check from time to time.
