So long Twinkies....

Because union memebers wouldn't make concessions, Hostess is closing down operations and liquidating their assets. The Wall Street Journal has the details.

Leftists are always talking about greedy corporations and greedy CEOs but never a word about greedy government or, heaven forbid, greedy unions.

What could be more greedy than a union who would rather everyone be out of job than for some of the workers to take concessions and hope the company can return to profitability in the future?

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face! And yes, this does qualify for 'stuck on stupid' designation!

So 18,000+ people are going to lose their jobs because of a greedy union.

Brilliant!

It's been interesting the perspective depending on whom is telling the story.

Liberal outlets blame management and woe to the unions. The opposite is true for conservative outlets, blaming the unions.

The reality is that there is likely blame on both sides. But placing blame is irrelevant now.

The question to be answered is what to do now? One obvious path is the current path of liquidating and have another baking company buy the assets. The other is that management and the union have an opportunity to create a sustainable financial and work rule arrangement that can last.

I always thought the unions believed in the "one for all, and all for one" concept. I guess now there creed is "everyone man (woman) for himself (herself). Unions leaders only care about themselves, not their members.
