Senate version of 'porkulus' bill now available

Here's the Senate version of the porkulus bill - also known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Bill.

It's 778 pages, was released late Saturday night, and Senators will have only about two days to read and digest it before being asked to vote on it.

There's just no way they can know the implications of the various sections in only 48 hours. Actually, I don't think any legislator should be allowed to vote on something they haven't read in its entirety - personally. But I know it happens, even on a local level.

Call the Senators - you can call any of them, since they all get paid with your tax dollars - and tell them to vote no. You can phone the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you request.
