Two quotes for today while I grapple with the insanity of the city of Toledo taking control of part of Libbey High School because an extremely small minority of people don't want the building torn down - as if the city has any money whatsoever to maintain any portion of the property while the meager group tries to find funding for keeping it ... and how, exactly, does the city acquisition of this property benefit all Toledoans? It doesn't!

Maggie, the city of Toledo is now gushing over its extra $1.8 million in income taxes it collected. This is where Collins thinks he can get the city to fork over the money to pay for his pet project to save Libbey High. This is total fiscal and moral insanity, no matter how he tries to explain it. And also, I saw a street sweeper cleaning Expressway Drive on Saturday night, 4-23-11, about 7:30p.m. The city is so flush with money that it can afford to buy the school and pay overtime for a street sweeper working a Saturday night shift.
Collins is probably thinking the City can buy it, then flip it to Dashing Pacific.
Of course they will be required to provide resumes and a solid business plan that only allows for use as determined by Mike Collins.
This is another example of the Mike Collins/City of Toledo "through the looking glass" sort of logic.
"It's never worked before, so let's do it again!"
Actually, it strikes me that this is Mike Collins preparing to run for Mayor.
