Learn about current state of solar energy in Northwest Ohio

Press Release:

(Toledo, OH) The Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce Solar Collaborative will host its first networking event on Thursday, May 3 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Applied Technology Integration, 1445 Holland Road in Maumee. The event, which is being held in cooperation with the Northwest Ohio Solar Hub, is intended to allow local business leaders interested in solar opportunities to learn about the status of Ohio's solar industry.

The event will feature William "Bill" A. Spratley, executive director, Green Energy Ohio, who will share information about current solar initiatives in Ohio. Bill lends a wealth of experience and knowledge in the utility and energy sector, having served as Ohio's first Consumer's Counsel and as a national utility consultant. His vast national and statewide network of contacts, including the US Department of Energy, Ohio Dept. of Development, national foundations and Chairing SOLAR 2007 - the 36th National Solar Conference, continue to gain new credibility and visibility for Green Energy Ohio.

A relatively new chamber initiative, the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce Solar Collaborative works to establish better collaboration and communication among area companies currently involved in the solar industry. The May 3 networking event will the first of many intended to fulfill the Collaborative's primary objective of creating a business-driven effort to assist in the growth and influence of the solar industry and create jobs in the region.

"We have identified numerous area businesses that are directly involved in the solar industry, specifically in installation and finance," said Wendy Gramza, executive vice president of the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce. "Our next step is to invite those companies to work with us to create new opportunities and capitalize on existing relationships within the solar industry. This networking event provides an ideal venue for people involved in the solar industry to get to know each other and begin to form the relationships from which we can promote and capitalize on a thriving new industry in Northwest Ohio."
