Founders' Quote Daily
"The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have past at home in the bosom of my family." ~ Thomas Jefferson (letter to Francis Willis Jr., 18 April 1790)
I thought this particularly appropriate as my husband and I celebrate the wedding of our best friends' daughter. Light posting, if any, for the weekend because, family is more important that anything - and these dear friends are 'family.'
Enjoy the weekend!

Hi Maggie,
Enjoy....you are very fortunate to have such friends in today's world.
Close friends and family are a blessing.

Hope you and Sam enjoy the wedding. And hope you're ready for the reception! ;)
I feel a breakfast coming on....
Maggie,
All the best to the family, and to those of the bride and groom. Rather than reply with an additional quotation, I thought instead to tease with a piece of ancient history:
The bride’s father supplied his son-in-law with all of the mead (beer made from honey) that he could drink for a month in Babylon some 4,000 years ago. Over time, this period became known as the “honey month”, which we know today as “honeymoon”.
Tim - kind of makes me wonder why the father thought the groom needed a month of mead...,
It was a beautiful wedding and a very fun reception ... I was struck by how personal the ceremony and celebration were - very indicative of the personalities of the bride and groom.
Maggie,
The time I was speaking of was one where brides were exchanged for goats and camels. I think that understanding the mind of the father of the bride may be just a bit beyond us.
But maybe that's just me ...
