Oh - how far we've come...

From The Patriot Post:

"Government is instituted to protect property of every sort; as well that which lies in the various rights of individuals, as that which the term particularly expresses. This being the end of government, that alone is a just government which impartially secures to every man whatever is his own." ~ James Madison (Essay on Property, 29 March 1792)

As you probably know Maggie, the Declaration of Independence very nearly said: life, liberty, and property. It was that important to the Founding Fathers. That definition of property included the fruits of personal labor (the money that we earn from working).

Somehow we seem to have lost sight of this in our rush to government dependency and compassion, and that's a shame.

Yet those in Washington seem to be falling over themselves trying to separate the productive members of our so-called society from our rightful property under many guises, when we know that they are throwing our money (property) around buying votes and voters in order to keep themselves and their ilk in power.

That's one reason why I fully back term limits. . .

It may not return control of our property to us, but it's a start.
