Well, I was told that the discussion during Eye on Education on WSPD tonight was going to be about dissolving the Toledo Public School system, but they never got around to that discussion.
They did say that they are just beginning the discussion and did talk about the possibility of a pilot program - pulling the best practices from both public and charter schools and applying them at a single school - perhaps in one of the buildings scheduled to be closed and auctioned by TPS.
They did mention that New Orleans, after Hurricane Katrina, is an example of an approach that could be considered. New Orleans was faced with the need to do something 'right away' to be able to provide an education system for their students, so they came up with a solution worth considering here.
