I've got a mink!

No - not the coat...the animal!

This morning, my husband was out gazing at the water and he saw a creature. Now, seeing a creature isn't anything unusual, but he didn't know what it was because it wasn't a raccoon, opossum or groundhog - all plentiful and known to be seen in our yard.

Into the house he comes, and out he goes with the camera. Shortly thereafter, he turned to the computer (isn't the Internet a wonderful thing?) and pronounced that it was, indeed, a mink. The body is about a foot long and overall length, including the tail, is about 1-1/2 feet. I do hope we see it again - this time with the camera's zoom capability engaged. :)

Perhaps a muskrat?

AWESOME!

I had no idea minks were still around this area!

Definitely NOT a muskrat...too many of those around as well...

A muskrat has a flat, scaly tail. Minks have fur on their tail...so not a muskrat, though this photo doesn't show the tail well.

Fun! I want one.

What if he shows up at the wedding? Wouldn't that be exciting?

Keep the camera on your neck!

Shall I come over and help you start the beginnings of a coat?

Gordon - Mink? What mink? My husband has killed "a large rat"...by the way, would you like to see my new stoll?

LOL!

Sigh, we get rats, you get minks. Just goes to show you that the Point has class.

:-)

Though I had to stop laughing at Gordon's comment to post.

You should have called me! I would have rushed over and fallen down the rocks! LOL

Your hubby will have to set the telephoto next time. Kind of looks like a gopher in the photo, but would be interesting to know if it's male or female. Perhaps there are babies somewhere on your shore?

Wow! A stole from one mink! What recipe did you use? Mink helper??

The more I look at your picture, the more the footage has that grainy bigfoot photo look to it.

Do we have DNA yet?

:)

Maggie said...

No - no DNA ... but the neighbor watched it for about 10 minutes the other day as it roamed around their deck.

One suggestion was to put our some sardines in order to get a better picture...
