Hooda Thunkit and Lisa Renee both commented on my GOP VP prediction post that they liked Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as the vice presidential choice for Sen. John McCain. Turns out, so does McCain.
I think she's a better choice than Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, and she's got her own 'maverick' streak like McCain. She adds an important aspect to the ticket - the administrative experience of a governor and mayor, having actually run a large organization - that the Sen. Barack Obama/Sen. Joe Biden ticket lacks.
I think she'll appeal to disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters, especially women, and to the dissatisfied portion of the conservative base.
All in all, a good choice.

Being a bit of a political 'wonk', I keep up with the political scene (yes...I sometimes watch C-Span...)so I have known of Joe Biden over the years, watching his "performances" on various committees on the Hill. He strikes me as an overtly partisan egomaniac who is also narcissistic. Those are the nice things I have to say about him... I heard about Sarah Palin on the Rush Limbaugh program months ago and checked into her background. Solid middle class, Life Member NRA, outdoorswoman, pro-life, conservative, bright, governing experience of the best kind (DOING SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE!) I hoped that the Obama machine would pick Biden. I prayed the Macain machine would pick Sarah Palin. Thanks to both camps, you have made me happy!!
Maggie,
Agreed, that's why I did some research in which Palin stood head and shoulders above all of the rest.
And, that's why I now have a ticket that I can vote for ;-)
Maggie,
Quite frankly I would be happier if the ticket were reversed, but that's just the Conservative (non-Compassionate variety) in me.
:-)
