States' rights and sovereignty

A growing number of states are looking to exert their rights under the 10th Amendment. This website has a complete list as well as some interviews from sponsors of the various measures.

Amendment 10 - Powers of the States and People

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

This Amendment is based upon the second Article of Confederation:

Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and every power, jurisdiction, and right, which is not by this Confederation expressly delegated to the United States, in Congress assembled.

Ohio does not yet have a bill pending.

As you'll see from the comments, this website also has a complete list of states and links to the news about their sovereign issues.

Maggie,

I get a strange feeling in my gut that some of this here thinking may be the first step on the path of seceding from the coming socialist storm.

Then again, I'm one of them there gun toting, bible caring (along with the Constitution and Declaration of Independence) right wing crazies.
