Mayor leaves his dog in hot car - again!

He did it again - and the very sad part is that the citizens are no longer outraged.

Mayor Carty Finkbeiner again left his dog, Scout, in his car, with the windows rolled up, for between two and three hours. He'd been caught doing this once before - in a handicapped parking spot - and, after the Humane Society investigated, he got a slap on the wrist and did a public service announcement. He left Scout in a running car with the air conditioning on during a "Green Event" at the Erie Street Market. But he got no ticket for a violation of the law which says you can't leave a car running like that.

And over the weekend, he left the dog in the hot car while at the Extreme Makeover house. You can listen to the interview with Becky and see the photographs of Scout that she took to document the event. Becky explained that the car was not running, the windows were all the way up, and Scout stayed in the car the entire time Carty was at the event, which was between two and three hours.

Where is the outrage? The previous times, people just shook their heads and said, 'it's just Carty being Carty.' But we all know that if one of us did those things, we'd suffer the consequences.

The reason he continues these types of activities is because he gets away with it.

And shame on all of us for letting him!

I am beginning to think our mayor is arrogant.

Yep, that is what I am thinking.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!

I have a suggestion ... take Scout away from Carty and bring him to my house.

He would be comfortable, well fed, well cared for, able to run in a large fenced yard and have 2 other pals to play with. 3 if you count the cat!

If any one of us tried to pull that crap we would be cited into court and charged with animal cruelty. And rightfully so. Just how the heck does Carty deserve special treatment? Because he's Mayor?

OH Please! Because he's Mayor he should be setting a premier example. Not showing his butt in arrogance.

His actions are akin to sticking his middle finger in the air to the law and his constituents.

I hope our moving truck is packed soon. This junk is way too much to handle on a day to day basis.

This is insane. Poor Scout. He should be taken away, because it is obvious that Carty does not care about him.

I am freaking sick and tired of Carty getting away with crap, like this. Don't even get me started on the stuff he pulls when he's doing things while acting as mayor.

What can the common citizen do about situations like this?

Maggie,

The only things surprising about this are the Mayor's apparent lack of consistency in the horrible treatment of this animal that he "loves" so much, and the complete cowardice of the Humane Society.

Come to think of it, Carty loves Toledo and look how he treats it. Maybe this is simply a mental condition that the Mayor suffers from.

Maggie,

”The reason he continues these types of activities is because he gets away with it.”

The real shame is that our “beloved” mayor keeps getting reelected (which is really OUR fault).

Tim,

”Come to think of it, Carty loves Toledo and look how he treats it. Maybe this is simply a mental condition that the Mayor suffers from.”

And that's just about he treats both “We the Sheeple” and his spouse Amy...

Except that we and Amy can do something about it, but apparently choose not to.

A pity...

Did the person who saw this report it to the police or Humane Society? Apparently not. Heck, throw a rock, break the back window so the poor animal can get some air.

Look at the pics, memorize the plate, share it with your friends....
